Nurse vice-president, Labour Relations, Research, Negotiation (FIQ)
CISSS de la Montérégie-Est (FIQ – Syndicat des professionnelles en soins de Montérégie-Est)
Dear fellow activists,
It is after serious reflection that I decided to run for the position of nurse vice-president, labour relations, negotiation, research (FIQ). Working on the Executive Committee would be an extremely important commitment for me. I am a woman who wants to see things happen. It is through these battles that I aspire to change the world, and above all, I want to be part of this change. Through this commitment, I would like to inspire all of the union reps and healthcare professionals: nurses, licensed practical nurses, respiratory therapists and clinical perfusionists. I would like to show that one can have a position like vice-president at the FIQ regardless of one’s age or family status.
I am finishing a bachelor’s and a certificate in Labour Relations. The skills and knowledge I have gained will certainly be valuable assets for this mandate. During my years in my local union, especially the last five as president, I have experienced a raiding period, a union certification vote, a merger of institutions and negotiations. I gained the expertise needed to understand the needs of local teams, healthcare professionals’ issues as well as their day-to-day.
I would like to be fully involved in negotiating collective agreements to fight for your needs and demands. I will listen and be open-minded to ensure that the next provincial negotiation will belong to the 75,000 healthcare professionals in Quebec. As a member of the Executive Committee, political officer for RLT negotiations, I would like to support and work closely with the union teams during the bargaining of the current local collective agreements. I am committed to working with you to find innovative ways to increase our members’ participation and engagement and to finding tools that facilitate union work that meets your needs.
Quebec unionism is undergoing an important shift. The healthcare system has been weakened by our government. Now more than ever we need to mobilize to achieve better working conditions and maintain a public health network that delivers safe health care to the population.
Let’s change the world together!
Thank you for your support.
