Marie-Josée Giroux
Licensed practical nurse vice-president (FIQP)
Centre hospitalier St-François Inc. (Syndicat des Professionnelles en soins de Québec)
The FIQP has finally become a reality. An enormous amount of time and effort made it possible, and now what we need to do is help it grow and stay healthy. We have moved into the development phase.
As I have been wanting to get more involved in the union, after reflection, I decided to run for the position of licensed practical nurse vice-president for the FIQP, which is very important to me. I sincerely believe that I have the skills and knowledge required to do this job. I have strength of character, listening skills and abundant energy. I am the ideal candidate for working with this team of professionals.
My name is Marie-Josée Giroux and I am from Boischatel, a Quebec suburb. I have worked at the Centre hospitalier St-Francois Inc. for 26 years. I love my job just as much as on my first day and I am proud to be a licensed practical nurse.
My experience at the union: I was a grievance agent for my centre for around ten years at the Syndicat des Infirmières Auxiliares du Québec. Next, I took a break for a few years to start a family and raise my two children. They are now young, independent adults. I have been back at the union as a grievance agent for about four years now and am an administrator on the SPSQ’s executive committee. We have seen a lot of changes and successfully overcame many challenges.
So, it is with great pleasure that I run for the position of licensed practical nurse vice-president in order to continue and improve the work done for licensed practical nurses’ practices and rights. It is by working together that we will achieve success.
Sincerely,
Marie-Josée Giroux
