VP Sociopolitical, Solidarity, Status of Women (FIQ)

CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l'Île-de-Montréal (FIQ – Syndicat des professionnelles en soins de santé du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal)

Dear union reps,

I am very happy to submit my candidacy for the position of vice-president on the FIQ Executive Committee. This decision which unites my professional future with that of the FIQ is a major one for me. It shows my desire to promote the concerns, reflections and solutions of the healthcare professionals and put all my energy into making progress in the Federation’s files. As a healthcare professional, I have the pleasure and privilege of working with a marginal and vulnerable clientele.

Every day is a battle for this clientele to get access to quality care in our healthcare system. In fact, this battle concerns, in part, the free-of-charge nature of the care material or medications, illness prevention and protection of the public.

Because of this, it is important to collaborate with community organizations and any other partner who believes in the rehabilitation of this clientele. I take this work to heart, defend their rights on all levels, whether it is health or psychosocial, because they deserve equity, fairness and safe, quality care. Social injustice is unacceptable for me in the world we live in. Therefore, the sectors which raise and fuel my passion as a woman, mother, nurse and worker are the sociopolitical and status of women sectors. These sectors must transverse all the Federation’s files.

Lastly, I believe in a society that conveys the FIQ’s essential values: precedence of human rights, social justice, sharing of the wealth and equal opportunities. However, the fragility of gains forces us to choose, over and over again, to work together, be united and as such, reposition ourselves as women, union reps and citizens based on the evaluation of the political context. Let’s remain in solidarity, rallying people, audacious, fair and equitable in the best interest of all. Working together today shows strong, healthy leadership for a better future.

Together, we can succeed!
