One month after announcing an ambitious plan, the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé–FIQ finds that the Minister of Health is betraying the hopes of healthcare professionals because the only measure he has put forth to try to convince thousands of them to come back and lend a hand is too restrictive to create real enthusiasm.

Reacting to the opening remarks of Premier François Legault, the interim president of the FIQ, Nathalie Levesque, believes that there can be no real cultural change in the network without firm commitments to address the current crisis in working conditions.

The COVID-19 pandemic has put a serious strain on the health and safety of healthcare professionals, both psychologically and physically. The crisis has posed a daily threat to workers who’ve been keeping the network afloat for months, exposing them to hazards of an unprecedented scope.

The FIQ Executive Committee unanimously appointed Nathalie Levesque as interim president. The Executive Committee made the announcement at a special provincial council where all the FIQ and FIQP affiliated union delegates were meeting.
