What will happen to the salary scale starting on April 1, 2018?
On April 1, 2018, all FIQ members will receive a pay increase.
On April 2, 2018, nurses, nurse team leaders, licensed practical nurses, licensed practical nurse team leaders and all respiratory therapists will change rank and enter a new salary scale. No employee will receive a decrease in pay. Employees will enter the new scale with either an equivalent salary or a salary immediately above what they had. For most, it will mean an increase in pay.
In 2019, all other job titles will enter a new salary scale.
In 2018 and 2019, certain employees will go from a scale of 10 to 12 echelons or from a scale of 12 to 18 echelons, depending on the situation. Employees will move up the 18 echelons by 6-month increments for the first 9 echelons. For those who were at the 12th echelon, the ceiling will be removed and they will continue to progress.
Why are things changing? The changes in 2018 are a result of the agreement on pay equity complaints. The changes in 2019 result from an extensive review of salary relativity: the new scales will ensure that equivalent jobs with the same values will all be in the same salary scale.
