Christmas professionals
For many, the holidays are synonymous with vacation, rest and time with family and friends. And that’s how it should be. 2017 has been a year filled with debate, change and upheaval. Between Christmas and New Year’s Day we normally benefit from a period of calm which allows us to rest and recharge for the new year ahead.
But not everyone gets this time—far from it! Throughout Quebec, workers are on the job making sure the world keeps turning. This is particularly true for the health network.
Thousands of healthcare professionals will be working during the holidays, providing care day and night. They are needed because illness, accidents and viruses don’t take vacations. Instead of spending time with family, they will be with patients. I encourage you to take a moment to think of them and show them your recognition because they deserve it. You can do this on our Facebook page by mentioning a person who is working on Christmas or New Year’s Day or over the holidays.
Our 30th Christmas!
I would like to highlight the fact that this year the FIQ is celebrating its 30th anniversary. 30 years of fighting for better working conditions and higher quality care. 30 years of solidarity and union action. The FIQ is a young organization that has already made big achievements. Let’s continue to shape the future by fighting for humane care for patients and healthcare professionals.
Lastly, between the local negotiations and our work to implement safe ratios, I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Peace, health and happiness.
