Tentative agreement for healthcare professionals at the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal
The FIQ–Syndicat des professionnelles en soins de santé du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal and the region’s CIUSSS reached a tentative agreement during night-time negotiations on Sunday, July 15. “The negotiating committee will present the outcome of the meeting discussions to the involved parties with a sense of satisfaction and, above all, a feeling of a job well-done,” explained Josianne Moreau, President of the SPSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, affiliated union of the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec–FIQ.
The union spokesperson believes that the tentative agreement meets members’ needs. “We had a clear mandate from the healthcare professionals we represent. Their priorities were directly aimed at improving their professional practice. They wanted more team stability, more positions, a reduced workload and better access to leave. We’re proud to have reached an agreement and are eager to submit it to our elected officials and members!” said Josianne Moreau.
The tentative agreement, which takes into account the specific needs of healthcare professionals living on the island of Montreal, includes substantial gains that will be submitted to members for a referendum vote in early September. It also includes an innovative project promoting self-sufficiency in healthcare units that will allow members to develop their expertise and provide access to leave and reduced mandatory overtime.
Adopting this agreement will allow for approximately ten local collective agreements to be harmonized and standardized, in the wake of Bill 10 and the Liberal government’s institutional mergers. In the coming months a single local collective agreement would take effect and govern all healthcare professionals working at the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal.
