“Objective ratios: we are taking action!”
The very first edition of the FIQ’s Organization of Work and Professional Practice (OTPP) Network took place at the Château Bromont on May 2 and 3. More than 200 participants enthusiastically responded to the invitation, demonstrating the extent of mobilization around these issues.
With “Objective ratios: we are taking action!” as the theme, the union representatives attended different presentations and conferences dealing with collective and union actions against the excessive workload. The goal of these actions is to roll out safe ratios everywhere in Québec, thanks to healthcare professionals, mobilized at the local level, who get involved in the committee on care in their institutions.
The Network participants also had an opportunity to gain knowledge, get equipped and take the time for a collective reflection on the significance of taking over organization of work at the local level.
This networking and training event – built on the Youth Network and Women’s Network models, known to and appreciated by the FIQ union reps- was the first part of a pilot project of three Networks, adopted at the last Convention. At the end of this project, the delegation will determine the relevancy of making the Network permanent, based on an evaluation that will be shared with them at the Convention in 2021.
