Participation in the Ombudsperson’s investigation
Following her investigation on the COVID-19 crisis management in CHSLDs, the Ombudsperson invited anyone who was directly affected by the situation to share their experience.
We can’t help but be pleased with the Ombudsperson’s invitation, in particular because it includes a component specifically meant for CHSLD staff. Healthcare professionals who would like to help with the investigation can do so by clicking on this link.
To support the Ombudsperson’s initiative, we will also give her access to the personal stories collected on our “Je dénonce” website during the crisis. The website was launched in late March due to the numerous heartfelt pleas we were receiving from all over. In just a few weeks, we had received over 1,000 personal accounts, 600 of which we were able to verify. This data is a true goldmine for those who would like to understand what really happened behind the doors of healthcare institutions during the crisis.
A few days ago, researchers from the University of Ottawa publicly released a study showing the importance of healthcare professionals’ disclosure of critical issues in the proper running of any healthcare system. The study is also based on an analysis of the “Je dénonce” website content.
