Sign the petition against the nursing teleconsultation pilot project in CHSLDs
The project doesn’t makes sense. Legault needs to back down!
In the coming weeks, the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) plans to roll out a nursing teleconsultation pilot project in some CHSLDs. So far, the unions for the following regions were informed that the pilot project would be held in their region:
- Chaudière-Appalaches
- Mauricie–Centre-du-Québec
- Estrie
- Outaouais
- Abitibi-Témiscamingue
The FIQ and FIQP oppose this project and are denouncing it on several platforms!
What does the project entail?
Based on the information we have, nurses could be remotely on-call during the night. Licensed practical nurses on site in a CHSLD would be able to call them, as needed, so that they can conduct evaluations and ensure immediate follow-ups for symptomatic events using electronic tablets. Depending on the situation, nurses could be called to travel to a CHSLD in under 30 minutes.
It’s unacceptable!
The unions in the regions slated for the project have already or will begin actions to firmly denounce it and propose other solutions in order to maintain humane, quality care for vulnerable patients. Once again, it is the residents in these care centres who are paying the price for a failing health network. These projects go completely against the safe ratios in CHSLDs and the implementation of an annual target for care-hours per bed as provided in the collective agreement.
These projects show a lack of respect for CHSLD residents, the population and healthcare professionals. We demand a nursing presence at all times in Quebec CHSLDs!
We encourage you to sign the petition and to share it with as many people as possible: your coworkers, families and the people in your region!
This could be an opening for projects that could eventually be implemented in other regions.
Thank you for your support.
