On September 10, 2023, major flooding caused two dams to burst in eastern Libya, in Derna to be precise. Since then, humanitarian organizations on the ground estimate there are more than 3,500 deaths, with thousands of people injured or missing. These figures are still preliminary, and the final toll could be much higher.

In light of this new climate and humanitarian tragedy, the FIQ wants to express its solidarity with the victims and with those giving aid on site. Members who would like to, can contribute by making a donation to the Red Cross to support local organizations in their efforts in helping the  victims.

Our hearts go out to the Libyan people at this difficult time.
