OIIQ exams : a step in the right direction
The Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec-FIQ still finds the 63% pass rate of candidates for admission to the practice of the nursing profession (CPNP) for the last Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) exams worrying. This is essentially a return to normal with regard to OIIQ exam management.
“It’s a step in the right direction but we still have several questions that need to be answered in the coming weeks and months,” explained Julie Bouchard, President of the FIQ.
Among the questions that remain is the recalculation of results for the September 2022 and March 2023 exams. This issue remains unresolved for the time being and will need to be clarified for the benefit of CPNPs.
“Keep in mind that hundreds of qualified candidates failed for questionable reasons. These women have been shaken by the experience and loss of salary. These factors remain, and we need to get to the bottom of them,” added Julie Bouchard.
Better conditions for CPNPs
The FIQ continues to insist that employers provide better working and practice conditions for CPNPs, since they are too often seen as nurses with a heavy workload, when they are supposed to have time to prepare for their final exams.
On the other hand, the FIQ welcomes the OIIQ’s decision to suspend its plan to use the U.S. exam, commonly known as NCLEX.
