Shirley Dorismond, Vice-President and Joint Political Officer for the Status of Women at the FIQ, attended the 62nd session of the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women.

The FIQ – Syndicat des professionnelles en soins de la Capitale-Nationale participated in a demonstration outside of the National Assembly of Québec to protest deteriorating conditions in the health network.

Two members of the FIQ’s Executive Committee, Linda Lapointe and Jérôme Rousseau, met with OPIQ’s executive director, Josée Prud’Homme.

FIQ members gathered outside of the Christ-Roi CHSLD to protest the lack of doctors in several long-term care centres in the region.

The FIQ and OIIAQ met to discuss job instability, excessive workloads and rolling out licensed practical nurses’ full scope of practice.

While its president, Nancy Bédard, was meeting with the Minister of Health and Social Services, the FIQ released findings from two surveys on healthcare professional-to-patient ratios.

Once again, in 2018, FIQ union reps will participate in an awareness-raising internship on international solidarity in Nicaragua.
