There’s movement at the bargaining table : let’s keep up the pressure!
The strike days on November 23 and 24 left no one indifferent. The first day, along with the FAE and Common Front, nearly 600,000 Quebec public sector employees were on strike. This strong demonstration also resonated with the population since 7 out of 10 Quebecers support our demands. That’s huge!
This strengthens the Negotiating Committee’s position at the bargaining table. Obviously, the government is doing everything it can so that it doesn’t show in the public eye, but we can feel the bargaining power behind the closed doors at the table.
After four strike days held in recent weeks, we are seeing a change in tone between parties at the table. The employer party finally agreed to listen to the union’s demands and proposals, which it had refused to do up until now. While we must still be careful, we can say that discussions are progressing, and that the government agreed to talk about our solutions.
That said, we must absolutely keep up the pressure. That is why we are announcing a new series of strike days on December 11, 12, 13 and 14, 2023.
Your Negotiating Committee needs this support to defend your right to decent working conditions. Let’s show this government that Quebec nurses, licensed practical nurses, respiratory therapists and clinical perfusionists are more united than ever and joining their voices to speak with one strong, loud voice!
